PORT ANGELES — Clallam County commissioners have unanimously voted to adjust speed limits on several roads. The decision earlier this week followed citizen requests and recommendations from County Engineer Joe Donisi.
Speed limits on Towne, Gupster, and Gilbert Roads were reduced, while Dry Creek Road’s limit was increased. Towne Road’s limit was lowered to 25 mph after safety concerns and local advocacy. Gupster and Gilbert Roads were reduced to 25 mph due to narrowness and pedestrian presence.
However, speed limits on Lotzgesell and 3 Crabs Roads remained unchanged, though Lotzgesell will be re-evaluated next year. These decisions were based on traffic studies and the history of accidents.
This is the first time the county has addressed speed limit changes in four years.
