Port Angeles – Following an extensive recruitment effort, the City of Port Angeles announced Friday the appointment of Scott Curtin as its new Director of Public Works & Utilities. Curtin, who joins the City this week, will continue the progress made by retiring Director Mike Healy.
A news release says Curtin brings to Port Angeles a wealth of experience spanning both the public and private sectors. Most recently, he served as Public Works Director for the City of Kenai in Alaska. Prior to that, Curtin held numerous project management roles in municipal government and in water and sewer utility districts. His background also includes thirteen years within the private sector, where he focused on master planned residential developments and construction management.
Scott Curtin will succeed Mike Healy, who is retiring after serving the community with distinction as both interim and permanent director of Public Works. Over the last two years, Healy has been instrumental in the City’s progress, advancing capital projects, securing funding through multiple grants, and implementing policy changes that enhance the efficiency of the City. He has also played an important role in the filling of long-standing vacant positions.
To facilitate a smooth transition, Director Healy will remain with the City though October 4.
