SEQUIM — It’s rivalry week as the Sequim Wolves and Port Angeles Roughriders face off in tennis, soccer, volleyball, and a highly anticipated football game on Friday night.
In football, the Wolves hit the road and defeated Elma 28-7, handing Elma their first loss after a 2-0 start. Meanwhile, the Roughriders struggled against undefeated North Mason, falling 28-6 due to blocked punts, costly turnovers, and an inability to stop the run.
Sequim is averaging 25 points per game while allowing 23. The Roughriders, on the other hand, are searching for answers on offense, averaging just 11 points per game while giving up 30.
The Wolves had a seven-game winning streak in the series until Port Angeles ended it last year with a win in Sequim.
Elsewhere, all eyes will be on Belfair as the 0-3 North Kitsap Vikings take on the undefeated North Mason Bulldogs. The October 31 Sequim vs. North Mason game could have significant playoff implications. Last year’s state playoff teams—Port Angeles, Bremerton, and North Kitsap—are currently a combined 0-9.
Friday night’s football game will be broadcast live on KONP Newsradio.
