PORT ANGELES – The City of Port Angeles has extended float availability at the Ediz Hook Boat Launch until the end of September, responding to feedback from local fishermen.
City staff say the extension provides additional time for fishing while safeguarding the boat launch infrastructure.
In early October, weather permitting, five floats will be temporarily removed to avoid winter storm damage. These floats will be stored for the winter and reinstalled in spring 2025. The remaining five floats will stay in place to offer limited access during the off-season.
Staff emphasized the importance of this preventive measure, noting the significant damage caused by last year’s storms. He added that the city is working on a permanent solution to ensure year-round float availability.
