QUINAULT — The Quinault Rain Forest Nature Trail is being nationally recognized next week for its beauty and biodiversity by being formally inducted into the Old-Growth Forest Network, and community members are invited to attend the brief ceremony on Tuesday, September 10.
The Quinault Rain Forest Trail is the 8th location to be recognized in the state of Washington and will join more than 250 forests nationwide recognized in the Old-Growth Forest Network. The Network’s goal is to identify and ensure the preservation and recognition of at least one forest in every forested county in the United States.
The ceremony will take place at the trailhead on South Shore Road in Quinault at 1:00pm, followed by a ½ mile guided interpretive hike.
Limited parking is available at the trailhead. Additional parking is available across the road at the Willaby Campground Day Use Area. Attendees may also park at the Quinault Ranger Station at 353 South Shore Road, Quinault and walk .9 miles to the ceremony using the Lake Front Trail that begins at the Ranger Station and ends
at Willaby Campground.
