BRINNON, Wash. — The State Department of Natural Resources and other agencies continue to battle the Mount Jupiter fire in Jefferson County.

The fire is burning about five miles west of the town of Brinnon and was estimated to have charred over 445 acres as of Friday morning.

Crews have been using helicopters to battle the fire on Mount Jupiter.

At last report, the fire was threatening about 50 homes. People living along a stretch of Duckabush Road are under Level 1 and Level 2 evacuation orders, which means “be alert” or “be ready to leave” if necessary.

The Brinnon Fire Department posted on social media that the Center Valley Animal Rescue will assist residents with evacuating their animals if it becomes necessary.

Authorities are telling people to stay off Duckabush Road, except for residents. They are also asking people not to fly drones in or around the fire area.

The cause of the fire remains unknown.
