PORT ANGELES — Clallam County government is taking the next step in response to the closure of the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society’s dog shelter.
The County Commissioners have officially restarted a committee tasked with animal issues, now named the Animal Solutions Advisory Committee. This committee will advise commissioners and the Sheriff’s Office on animal control management.
The committee aims to provide a regular forum for exchanging information, sharing resources, addressing emergent concerns, and recommending strategies to support county residents and their companion animals.
There are five openings on the committee: one for a veterinarian, one for a representative from a Clallam County equine rescue organization, one for a representative from an animal rescue organization that accommodates animals other than dogs, cats, and horses, and two at-large positions.
Interested citizens can apply by contacting the Clallam County Commissioners’ Office.
