PORT ANGELES – Due to this long dry spell we’re experiencing here on the Olympic Peninsula and the many brush fires we’re seeing, Clallam County Fire Marshal George Bailey announced Wednesday he has upgraded the current burn ban to prohibit all outdoor burning.
Outdoor burning includes recreational campfires, bonfires, briquette BBQs, residential yard debris, trash disposal, land clearing and agricultural burning. Propane and gas appliances and pellet stoves are permitted provided the use is over a non-flammable surface and at least 5 feet from flammable vegetation.
The Fire Marshal asks that everyone be mindful of any combustibles on their property and to provide for at least a 30-foot defensible space around homes and structures to provide a buffer for fighting a fire if needed.
