PORT ANGELES — On Saturday, July 13th, 2024, Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue and Port Angeles Fire Department successfully contained a wildfire south of Port Angeles. The fire, first reported at 3:49 AM, grew to just over 2 acres in the “Six Pack” area.
Crews, totaling 15 personnel, responded with engines and water tenders. The fire was burning in forest slash and the lower tree canopy.
Washington State DNR took over management, using a bulldozer and a helicopter to establish containment lines and suppress the fire. By 10:00 AM, most local crews were released, with one water tender remaining for final extinguishment.
The fire is contained, though some smoke may persist. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
