PORT ANGELES — A hiker was rescued by the US Coast Guard aircrew out of Port Angeles after drifting logs injured him late Saturday night.

Coast Guard officials say the rising tide caused logs to float adrift and injure the 44-year-old man near the mouth of the Hoh River. Two others in his party assisted the man before the aircrew arrived from the base Ediz Hook in Port Angeles.

The aircrew brought the man to the air station where he received further aid before being taken to Olympic Medical Center.

Coast Guard officials said Monday the man’s current condition is unknown.
