Jefferson County, WA  — A Port Angeles man died in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 101 along Hood Canal on Friday.

According to the State Patrol, 64-year-old Leroy S. Perfect died when he tried to pass another vehicle. He lost control of the 2019 Dodge Ram he was driving, hit a guardrail, and ended up in a ditch on the northbound side.

Perfect, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of the accident is believed to be speed too fast for conditions or a possible medical emergency. Drugs and alcohol were not involved.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating to determine the exact cause of the accident.
