PORT ANGELES – Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue will be celebrating the addition of the new water tender to our fleet this Saturday, June 22nd at 10:00am at Fire Station 22 on Power Plant Road.
The push-in ceremony is a tradition among firefighters dating back to when fire wagons were horse drawn and needed to be pushed into fire stations manually by the firefighters since a team of horses weren’t the best in coordinated backing.
Today, the tradition continues, and Fire Chief Jake Patterson says his crews are excited to be able to do this for their brand new water tender.
The firefighters, along with their families and guests, will get a chance to “wash-down” the new tender, dry it off and then the crews will push it into the station and formally place it into active service.
The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe will be there as well to offer a blessing for this new vehicle.
Everyone is welcome to attend the ceremony this coming Saturday, June 22 at 10:00am at Fire Station 22 at 700 Power Plant Road.
Parking may be limited at the fire station so folks are asked to park down at the electric sub-station on Power Plant Road if possible.
