OLYMPIA – There may soon be a limit on how long you can stay in a Washington state park.
The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission is seeking public input on a proposal to cap the number of days you can camp. The update would limit campers to a maximum of 10 nights in one park within a 30-day period, with a total annual limit of 90 nights across all state parks. These changes aim to standardize the limits year-round, replacing the current seasonal variations outlined in state administrative codes.
Officials say the goal is to enhance fairness and allow more visitors to enjoy the parks.
The proposed changes will be presented at the Commission’s regular meeting in July. If approved, the new limits will take effect this August.
Parks is accepting public comments from June 1 to July 12. You can comment on the state parks website under the planning project drop-down menu by selecting “Proposed Camping Stay Limits WAC Update.”
