PORT ANGELES — Former Roughrider distance runner Jack Gladfelter of Corban College in Salem Oregon, placed 7th at the John Knight Twilight Invitational at Western Oregon University.

Gladfelter ran a 3:35.92 in the 1500-meter race producing a qualifying time for the Cascade Collegiate Conference Track and Field Championships May 10th in Klamath Falls Oregon. The time puts Gladfelter as the 2nd fastest timed 1500 meter run in Corban University history.

The Peninsula Pirates women’s soccer team has signed two more high school recruits.

Jordyn Labajo comes from Mililani, Hawaii and Grace Widergren comes from Class 4A South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard. As a junior, Widergren was a South Puget Sound League 4A 2nd team Selection. This past fall, Widergren was a 1st team selection.

There is high school tennis action tonight as the Roughriders host Bremerton at 4:00.

There is a big high school baseball game tomorrow, as the red-hot Sequim Wolves visit Civic Field to take on the Roughriders with the first pitch at 6:30 pm. The Roughriders are 8-2 coming off a disappointing 5-1 loss to Klahowya last Friday afternoon. The Wolves (4-4) have won 3 games in a row.

The Roughriders will travel to Sequim this Friday with the first pitch at 4:15. That game will be the beginning of the KONP Newsradio Roughrider baseball broadcasts. The pre-game show will start at 4:00 as Oly Archibald has the live play by play and John Hayden has the color commentary. KONP Newsradio will also broadcast this Saturdays home game with Bellevue.
