
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College men’s soccer coach Jake Hughes has found 3-star soccer recruits in Palm Springs! Not Palm Springs California but the Palm Springs of Washington State as in Yakima.
Ezrah Ochoa, Noe Garfias and Edwin Diaz led Davis High School of Yakima to a 3rd place state finish in last year’s 4A State Soccer Tournament. Ochoa set a school record with 20 goals in a season.

In girls fast pitch, the Port Angeles Roughriders opened their season at Silverdale blowing out Class 3A Central Kitsap 11-1.
NWAC Columbia Basin signee Natalie Robinson made an early statement for State 2A player of the year by going 3 of 4 with 2 triples, a home run and 4 RBIs. Lynzee Reid went 2 of 4 with a single a double and an RBI. Mikkhia Stevens went 2 of 2 with a single a triple and 3 RBIs.
On the mound, starter Heidi Leitz pitched 3 innings with 4 strike outs while giving up just one hit. Relieve pitcher Lynzee Reid finished up throwing 3 innings while giving up just 2 hits and no runs.
