SEQUIM — The City of Sequim is now seeking applicants to fill the seat on the City Council left vacant by the resignation of former Mayor Tom Ferrell for personal reasons.

Applications are due to the City Clerk no later than noon on Friday, March 22. The City Council will interview selected applicants during a public meeting on Monday, April 8 at the Sequim Civic Center.

The appointee would begin serving immediately after taking the Oath of Office and would serve until the 2025 General Election results are certified. If this appointee would like to serve the remainder of the term for Position 7, set to expire December 31, 2027, he or she must be elected by voters in November of 2025.

The salary for the position is $368 per month. Applicants must be registered voters of the City of Sequim, have a one-year continuous period of residence in the City of Sequim at the time of appointment, and hold no other public office or employment under the city government.

By Washington State Law, the City Council is required to fill a vacant position within 90 days of the vacancy.
