PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula Pirate basketball teams are well represented in the NWAC post season awards.

It is no surprise the Northern Conference women’s coach of the year goes to Pirate Head Coach Allison Crumb. Her Pirates went undefeated 14-0 in Conference play, a first for Pirate basketball.

Freshman Shania Moananu was voted the MVP of the Northern Conference. Moanau is averaging 10 points per game 4 rebounds per game and is shooting 70% from the line.

Ciera Agasiva; a hometown buddy of Moananu from Kalihi, Hawaii; was also voted to the first team. Agasiva is averaging 11 points per game, 5 rebounds per game and shooting 50% from the field.

Pirate Hawaiian teammates Shania Moananu and Ciera Agasiva from Kalihi, were voted to the 1st team All Northern Conference. Moanunu was voted the MVP of the conference

Sophomore Jennilee Donovan from Barrow, Alaska was voted to the 2nd team. Lexie Mackey, a freshman from Australia, was voted to the all-defensive team.

The Pirates will take on Centralia Friday at Noon in first round play of the NWAC tournament at Columbia Basin College in Pasco.

The Pirate men were also well represented in the Northern Conference All-Star team.

Sophomore Ese Onakpoma was voted first team and the Northern Conference Defensive MVP. Onakpoma is averaging 20 points per game, 6rebounds per game and is shooting 50% from the field.

Sophomore Javon Ervin was named to the first team and is averaging 10 points per game, 4 rebounds per game and is shooting 45% from the field. It should be noted that the fact the Pirates finished 4th in a super-talented and competitive conference that the head coaches of the conference thought that highly of Ervin and Onakpoma. That showed a lot of respect for the two Pirates and the Pirate program in general.

Sophomore Javon Ervin from Tacoma was voted to the 1st team All Northern Conference along with Sophomore Ese Onakpoma

The Pirates open up NWAC tournament play tomorrow at 2:00 against 23-4 Portland.
