SEQUIM – If you’re a regular visitor to the Sequim Library, it’s important to know that the library will be closing for 3 weeks this coming Saturday, March 9, and then reopening in a new location for one year while the building goes through a complete remodel and expansion.
The library will expand from 6,000 square feet to 10,000 square feet, and Sequim Library Manager Emily Sly, who recently dropped in on KONP’s Girl Friday Show, explains what we can expect when it reopens next year.
“That’s why I mentioned the libraries built in 1983. That was long before Sequim became known as a place to retire, and our population has grown a bit. So, we’ve been too small for too long. So, really excited about that. It’ll have a really nice meeting room, conference room, study rooms, kids space, outdoor kids play area, and just really nice reading areas and great technology access. It’ll feel totally different. A lot of the building’s going away, but it’s a full remodel and expansion.”
During construction, the library will take up temporary quarters, for one year, in the JC Penney mall at the old Brian’s Sporting Goods store.
