PORT ANGELES – New data show Clallam County is moving in the wrong direction for overdose deaths.
According to just-released data from the Washington State Overdose Surveillance Network, Clallam County has risen to the second highest rate of overdose deaths in the state.
Just a few weeks ago, Clallam County was at the third highest rate per 100 thousand of population.
The newest data shows Clallam County at a rate just under 71 overdose deaths per 100-thousand population annually.
Neighboring Grays Harbor County is the top of the list at 79 deaths.
King County is in third at 65 overdose deaths per 100-thousand annually.
The data is an aggregate of statistics from January of last year through January of 2024.
