SEQUIM — Sequim’s Police chief is stepping down. Sheri Crain says she will retire at the first of March.

The city has named Deputy Police Chief Mike Hill to take over.

Hill joined the Sequim Police Department in 1998 as a Reserve Police Officer, he was hired full-time in 2001.  During his time with the department, he has served as a Field Training Officer, a K-9 Officer, a Firearms Instructor, and a Defensive Tactics instructor.  Hill was a Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, and Detective Sergeant before being promoted to Deputy Chief in 2021.  Hill holds a degree in Criminal Justice and continues his educational pursuits by finalizing another degree in Criminology. Hill also graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Academy in 2023.
