PORT ANGELES — City crews have successfully repaired the 8-inch water main located on S Oak Street at the intersection of S Oak Street & 11th Street.

According to a news release, the area has been backfilled and a portion of the intersection (located on 11th Street approximately 150 feet east of Oak Street) will remain closed to traffic until road repairs are complete.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane on Oak Street between 10th Street and 11thStreet.

A contractor will be hired next week for pavement repairs.

It was the second water main break that caused a street to collapse in Port Angeles in three days. About 7:45 Saturday morning, the break occurred near Queen of Angeles Church. Water was gushing from the broken main and the street can be seen beginning to cave.

That break came  a little over 12 hours after Lincoln Street was reopened at 5th Street following another water main break and the emergence of a 10 x 10 foot sinkhole.
