OLYMPIA — Sequim resident Amanda Bacon performed the National Anthem to open the Washington State Legislative session in Olympia.

Bacon was nominated by 24th District Senator Kevin Van De Wege and selected by others at the state capitol  to perform the anthem officially marking g the start of the session.

“I am honored to have been nominated and then chosen to sing for the start of the 2024 Legislative session. To be in a room, with the men and women who serve our state, is humbling and awe inspiring,” said Bacon. “Oh say does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave! O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave!”

Bacon is a lifelong resident of Sequim. She has performed as a featured vocalist locally, regionally and nationally since she was a young child.

She currently fronts the popular western Washington band “Black Diamond Junction”, also performs a Patsy Cline Tribute show throughout the region and performs with a nationally renowned John Denver tribute show.

When not performing on stage, Bacon is also a radio personality and promotions director for Radio Pacific, operators of KONP, KSTI and KZQM in Port Angeles and Sequim.
