PORT ANGELES – Formal charges have been filed against a Sequim woman accused of killing the daughter of a man for whom she was a caretaker.

Yesterday, Clallam County prosecutors filed seven criminal counts against Aline Jones.

She faces second degree murder charges with a deadly weapon enhancement in connection with the death of Susan Ferrel. Jones allegedly struck Ferrel three times in the head with a hammer causing her death. Jones has claimed the killing was in self defense after she said Ferrel came at her with the hammer after she discovered documents indicating Ferrel’s recently-deceased father had signed over property and possessions to Jones.

Jones also faces charges of stealing a motor vehicle, making false statements to police, three counts of tampering with evidence and a count of removal or concealment of a body.

Jones was arrested over the weekend after being interviewed by law enforcement. The case was revealed when Ferrel’s body was discovered in the yard of her father’s home in Diamond Point last week.

Jones is in the Clallam County Jail being held on half a million-dollar bail.
