PORT ANGELES — In middle school football action yesterday, the Sequim Timber Wolves won their 5th straight game beating Stevens at Civic Field 21-8.

Both teams moved the ball between the 20s in the first half, but no one had scored as the clock showed zeros to end the half and both teams started off to the Locker room.

However, the officiating crew decided they would let Sequim have one last play to everyone’s dismay. On the extra play, Sequim scored on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Chase Crossman to Bryce Crossman to make the score 7-0 Sequim at the end of the half. When Stevens’ coaching staff asked the officials crew why they allowed Sequim the extra play, the officials said it was because the scoreboard horn did not sound when the clock had no time left.

In the 3rd quarter, Sequim defensive back Clayton Ernst picked off a pass and returned it 15 yards for the touchdown to make the score 14-0. With 5:27 left in the 3rd quarter, QB Kaden Miller hit Tim Sealey for a 14-yard touchdown to make the score 21-0.

Stevens scored late in the 4th quarter when Rodolfo Gomez scored on a 13-yard touchdown run. Benjamin Clemens kicked the PAT to make the final score 21-8. Clemens also returned the 2nd half kickoff 65 yards to the Wolves 7-yard line, but Stevens could not score. Stevens’ defensive back Asher Irvine had 2 interceptions.
