PORT ANGELES — It was a tough Friday night for the Port Angeles and Sequim football teams.

Sequim lost to Olympic 42-0, and the Roughriders lost to 7th ranked Bremerton 49-7.

The Wolves should have a fun time this Friday night for homecoming as they will be 2 touchdown favorites over a struggling North Mason Bulldog team.

The Roughriders will again be big underdogs against a super tough Bainbridge Spartan team. Bainbridge went down to the final seconds with North Kitsap, losing by just a touchdown 23-17. The good news for the Roughriders: If they beat both Kingston and North Mason, they will claim the 3rd district playoff spot. The Roughriders will be 3 touchdown favorites in both games.

In NWAC soccer action, the #1ranked Peninsula Pirates women’s team shut out the Whatcom Orcas 8-0. Briana Tanaka and Taya Bohenko both scored two goals. The 6th-ranked Pirate men beat the Orcas 2-1. Mathew Enriquez and Manny Garcia scored both goals for the Pirates.

There is a big high school soccer game tomorrow night as Port Angeles will host Sequim. The Wolves with a 7-1 league record trail 1st place North Kitsap, which has a 9-0 record, by a game and a half. The Roughriders are in 3rd place with a 5-4 league record. The Wolves have outscored their opponents 38-8, the Roughriders have outscored their opponents 21-15. Kickoff is tomorrow night at 6:45 at Peninsula College.

There is big news coming out of Sequim High School concerning the Wolves girls basketball team. With point guard Hannah Bates now a Peninsula Pirate, Wolves fans were concerned who would take over. That question has been answered in the way of a transfer from state-champion Neah Bay. Gracie Chartraw has transferred into Sequim High School and will be a freshman. Last year as an 8th grader, Chartraw played on the Red Devils 1B state-championship team. In varsity action, Chartraw played in 19 games averaging four points per game. She shot 40 percent from the field and 30 percent from the 3-point stripe.
