PORT ANGELES — In high school soccer action, both local teams came up with easy wins.
The Roughriders went to Kingston and shut out the Buccaneers 4-0. Becca Manson scored in the 21st minute on a penalty kick. At the 55th minute Pyper Alton scored off a corner kick from Teanna Clark. At the 64th minute Maeve Croteau scored on a 30-yard rocket launch. Becca Manson scored her 2nd goal at the 80th minute mark for the 4-0 final score. The Roughriders are now 5-4 on the season.
In Sequim, the 12th ranked Wolves as expected blew out North Mason 9-0 in a game that saw eight different Wolves score goals. The Wolves were able to give all their 2nd unit players a lot of minutes. Sash Yada led the way with 2 goals. Taryn Johnson had one goal and four assists. Jennifer Gomez had a goal and an assist. Raimey Brewer, Olive Bridge, Nikoline Updike, Naveah Nelson and Kiley Winter all scored goals. The Wolves are 7-1 on the season.

In tennis, the red-hot Roughriders simply ran into a better North Kitsap team who shut out the Roughriders 7-0. Roughrider coach Brian Gundersen said the Vikings are the best 2A team he has seen in a long time. The Roughriders will host Kingston Tuesday night for Senior Night.

In volleyball action the Roughriders lost to Kingston 1-3.
Sequim swept North Mason 3-0. The Wolves are 6-3 on the season.

There is swimming action today with Sequim hosting North Kitsap at 3:30 pm.

There is NWAC soccer action on Saturday, Peninsula will host the Whatcom Orcas with the women kicking off at noone the men kickoff at 2:15 pm.

In high school football action tonight, Sequim will travel to Olympic for a 6:30 pm kickoff but the big game of the night will be in Bremerton where the Port Angeles Roughriders will take on the state’s 7th-ranked Bremerton Knights. The winner will control their own destiny for the Olympic League 2nd place playoff spot.
The keys to the game will be the Roughrider linebackers Jason Hawes, Ezra Townsend, Kason Albaugh, Landon Jones and James Browning going against Bremerton’s two premier running backs who average 11 yards per carry and have scored 17 touchdowns.

The Roughriders will want to go to the air with red hot QB Parker Nickerson, who on the season has completed 66 passes on 127 attempts for 1,153 yards and 11 TDs with 6 interceptions. Roughrider wide receiver Blake Sohlberg has had an all-league season hauling in 26 passes for 465 yards and 6 touchdowns.
