PORT ANGELES – The Clallam County Fair opens Thursday in Port Angeles.

Themed “Country Nights & Carnival Lights,” the 102nd run of the fair goes through Sunday.

This year features an upgraded rodeo that will happen on Friday and Saturday evening, with a much bigger purse that has attracted far more contestants than in the past.

Fair Manager Shari Ioffrida says all the exhibits are full this year as things have returned to pre-pandemic levels.

“We are sold out of indoor spaces, every single inch is filled and our buildings and the exhibits have been coming in. We have a lot more of the 4-H and FFA kids, the enrollment was up from last year and our camping is full. And we have some new food vendors,” said Ioffrida.

The carnival returns as well with added, new rides this year.

Ioffrida says there’s a lot of entertainment on tap for this year’s fair.

“We have a draft horse pull, logging show and I’d really like to point out the rodeo Friday and Saturday. It’s going to be a huge rodeo as we got additional prize money. We also have lots of areas for music. We have Black Diamond Junction, Storm Rider; they’re a Doors tribute; and we have Sweet Emotion and Aerosmith tribute, and the James Howard Band. We also have the Stardust, big band orchestra and we have Jeff Evans. He’s a magician and he’ll be on the Sunny Farm stage, and then he’s also strolling around. He does some close-up magic,” said Ioffrida.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m., with buildings opening at 9 a.m. each day. Gates close at 9 pm Thursday through Saturday and 7 pm on Sunday.

Admission prices have gone up slightly this year, to $10 dollars for adults and $8 for seniors and teens. This year, seniors over 80 will get in free.
