PORT ANGELES – You may recall our story from February of last year when the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office reported that the bodies of a man and a woman were found inside their car on Wild Currant Way in Port Angeles. 60-year-old Clay Haltom and 43-year-old Bryana Presler had both been shot in the back of the head with a .22 caliber weapon.

Two hours later, detectives arrested Christopher Haltom, the 40-year-old son of Clay Haltom, on previous warrants. Detectives later developed probable cause that Christopher Haltom was responsible for the deaths of Haltom and Pressler, and he was incarcerated at Western State Psychiatric Hospital.

Last week, the Clallam County Jail was notified by officials at Western State that patient Christopher Haltom had died on Monday, May 15.

Chief Corrections Deputy Don Wenzl reports there are no further details as to the cause and manner of Haltom’s death at this time.
