LOCAL SPORTS: Attack on ump cancels PA-Olympic fastpitch game

SILVERDALE — It was an ugly scene at the Port Angeles-Olympic fast pitch game yesterday. After an umpire threw an Olympic coach out of the game, an Olympic fan went after the umpire. There is video on social media of the scene playing out. The game was canceled in the 3rd inning with the score tied.

The Sequim Wolves played well defensively and got an outstanding pitching performance from Laney Vig ,but the Wolves could only get 5 hits and lost to the 6-0 North Kitsap Vikings 4-0. The Wolves had the bases loaded in the 2nd inning with one out but could not score. The Wolves had 2 runners on again in the 3rd inning but again could not advance the runners.

In baseball, the Roughriders loss a heartbreaker to North Kitssp 7-6. Sequim beat Kingston 10-2. The two teams will play again today at Snider Babe Ruth Park with the first pitch at 4:15 pm.

In tennis action, it was good news bad news for the Roughrider girls. The Vikings swept the Roughriders 7-0 but the Roughriders also shut out Kingston 7-0. In singles action, Liberty Lauer won 6-0, 6-0. Abby Robinson and Lucia Garcia Pulido won by default. In doubles, Cindy Liang and Gweneth Van Blair won 6-0, 6-1. Waverly Mead and Bella Artis won 6-1 6-2 and Sarah Hancock and Bridget Weed won 6- 2, 6-2. The Roughriders travel to Sequim today with the first serve at 4 pm.

In golf, the Roughrider boys won a nail biter 191 -200 over North Kitsap. Nate Anderson led the way with a 46. Austin Worthington shot a 47. Phoenix Flores and Cale Wentz shot a 49. Reid Schmidt shot a 50 and Isaiah Shamp shot a 55.

The Roughrider girls also earned the win over the Vikings 230-241. Lauryn Chapman shot a 51. Piper Williams shot a 53. Malena Marquez and Claire Osterberg shot a 63, and Mia Neff shot a 67.

In soccer action North Kitsap beat the Roughriders 4-1 and Bainbridge beat Sequim 5-0.
