PORT ANGELES – Following up on our story from February 28 when police recovered the body of a man in a tent on the beach just north of Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, we checked in with Deputy Coroner Nathan Millett.

After conducting an autopsy Monday, Millett says 50-year-old Michael Doty of Port Angeles did not show any signs of violence or trauma.

“There was nothing suspicious or unusual. There’s no suspicion of foul play. He did have some heart disease found at autopsy but, given the fact that drug paraphernalia was found on the scene, we’re going to wait for the toxicology results to come back. But no suspicion of a homicide or anything like that. So it’s looks like just an unfortunate person down on his luck.”

Millett said it could be months before the toxicology report is returned.
