PORT ANGELES – If you had plans to get on the Black Ball Ferry tomorrow, cancel them now. Ferry officials found out about an hour before their 2:00 sailing to Victoria, B.C. that an engine problem would force them to cancel sailings at least through Thursday.
Black Ball’s Rian Anderson explains.
“So, the issue is we’re having an issue with the starboard engine’s turbo, and we have a new turbo in the warehouse that we’ll be able to install tomorrow. Pretty straightforward job, yet it’s an all-day job, so that’s why we have to cancel all sailings tomorrow.”
Anderson says the goal is to get back to moving passengers on the first scheduled sailing on Friday morning.
“Friday morning 8:20 sailing, and there’s a very high likelihood that that will happen, just because of the confidence coming from the engine department. The ship may go out later tomorrow, but that would just be sea trials after being able to install the turbo.”
