PORT ANGELES — Snow greeted the north Olympic Peninsula Wednesday morning. And more snow for the area is expected for the next day or so.
The lowlands of the Port Angeles Sequim area received between ½ and an inch of snow. But forecasters say get ready for possible more inches coming through today and tonight. The National Weather Service warns eight inches of snow could hit some of the higher elevations around the north Olympic Peninsula by Thursday.
That’s as very cold air settles into the area for the rest of the week. A Frasier River outflow is setting up for “strait effect” snow possibilities. That’s when the cold air builds moisture over the Strait of Juan de Fuca and drops snow as it runs into the north side of the Olympic Mountains.
Low temperatures into the 20’s with wind chills into the teens are expected to be with us until Saturday.
