SEQUIM — In district playoff basketball last night, the Sequim Wolves boys blew out Lindbergh 66-37. Vincent Carrizosa led the way with 14 points. Keenan Green hit for 11 points, Cole Smithson had 10 points and Zack Thompson had 8 points.

The Wolves will now travel to Clover Park on Friday night with the tip off at 6 pm. You can hear that game live on Newsradio KONP. Clover Park lost to North Kitsap last night by 16 points.

It was a much tougher night for the Port Angeles Roughriders who once again played great basketball in the first half but struggled in the 2nd half. The Roughriders lost to #3 seed Enumclaw 53-44.

With the hot shooting of Parker Nickerson, who hit five 3-point shots in the first half, the Roughriders trailed by just 2 points 26-24 at the half. Enumclaw outscored the Roughriders 13-8 in the 3rd quarter and led 39-32 after three. Only two other Roughriders scored, with Isaiah Shamp scoring a hard-earned 10 points. Shamp was double teamed all night. Tyler Hunter hit for 7 points. Nickerson ended up with 27 points.

The Roughriders will now host Franklin Pierce Friday night at 6 pm

In girls district action tonight the Port Angeles Roughriders will host North Mason at 6 pm.

In a district semifinal game, Sequim takes on Enumclaw tonight at 7:45 pm at Highline High School. The winner will advance to the district championship game Saturday at North Mason with the tip off at 6pm. The loser will play for 3rd and 4th place Saturday at 2 pm at Noth Mason. Tonight’s game will be broadcast live on Newsradio KONP with the Les Schwab Tires pre-game show stating at 7:30 pm. Oly Archibald and Deontae Cooper will have the live play by play.

Forward Libby Turella has been scoring in double figures for the Wolves

In NWAC action last night, the Peninsula Pirates took both games at Skagit Valley. The 6th ranked Pirate women won their 8th game in a row knocking off Skagit Valley 64-55. Ituau Tuisaula had 16 points and 19 rebounds. Chasity Selden led all scorers with 19 points. The Pirates are now tied for 1st place in the conference with Shoreline, both with 8-2 records.

The 2nd ranked Pirate men won a huge game over Skagit Valley 66-63.  Malik Jackson led the way with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Ese Onakpoma hit for 11 points and D’Ante Dean came off the bench to hit for 8 points and pulled down 4 rebounds. The Pirates head to Olympic on Saturday with the women tipping off at 2 pm, the men at 4 pm.
