PORT ANGELES – The recent swearing-in of Clallam County’s new Sheriff Brian King made some room for others in the agency to be promoted.

It was announced Tuesday that Sheriff King promoted Harold Edwards from Patrol Deputy to Patrol Sergeant and Patrol Sergeant Brian Knutson to Detective Sergeant.

Sgt. Harold Edwards joined the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office as a Lateral Patrol Deputy in 2018 and received two Meritorious Service Awards in 2020. Sgt. Edwards’ wife, Sequim Police Sgt. Carolee Edwards, pinned his Sergeant badge on at the ceremony Tuesday.

Sgt. Brian Knutson joined the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office in 2004 as a Patrol Deputy. He was assigned to Detectives in 2013 and promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2018. Sergeant Knutson has earned numerous awards for his outstanding service over the years, including;

  • 6 Commendation Awards
  • 1 Lifesaving Award
  • 3 Meritorious Service Awards
  • 4 Meritorious Unit Citations
  • Employee of the Year – 2006
