If the Sequim Wolves girls basketball team wins this year’s Olympic League Championship, they could give some of the credit to Peninsula Women’s basketball coach Allison Crumb. With the Pirates short on players because of injuries and the soccer season, Crumb sent out a media release that the Pirates needed a couple of female players to practice with the Pirates for two weeks. Current Sequim Wolves basketball players seniors Jelissa Julmist and Hannah Bates accepted the invitation. Considering who they were playing with, Julmist and Bates both looked very good as they participated in every wind sprint, drill and scrimmage. Julmist looked much more athletic and faster from last year in the scrimmages. Julmist missed the last part of the season last year breaking her kneecap against Klahowya. Bates, the Wolves point guard, should be a contender the for the Olympic League MVP. Bates looked fantastic scrimmaging against the Pirates and showed a much improved 3 point shot from last year. After their last practice on Thursday night, the entire Pirate team and coaching staff thanked the two Wolves with a standing ovation.
