Congratulations goes out to the Port Angeles Roughriders Boys Tennis team. With their 6-1 win over Sequim, they are your 2022 Co Olympic League Champions with North Kitsap. Both teams ended the season with 11-1 records. Roughrider Head Coach Brian Gundersen said he is proud of his 8 Seniors. “This Senior class has meant so much to this program and I am so proud of what they have accomplished”! In singles action, two of the best 2A players in the state went at it as Garrett Little of Sequim beat Reef Gelder in a great match up 6-3, 3-6 and 7-6. Nathan Basden beat Espn Judd 6-2, 6-4. Reid Schmidt beat Zach Pont 6-1 6-4. In doubles action, Edun Baily and Jacob Miller beat William Hughes and Jack Crecilius 6-1, 6-4. Elijah Flodstrom and Zach Alton beat Lincoln Bear and Hunter Tennell 6-0, 6-0. Luke Flodstrom and Kellen Garcelon beat Isaac McKeen and Anson Judd 6-0, 6-0. Isaac Shamp and Mathew Miller beat Ryan Stites and Andrew Brown 6-0, 6-0.

In volleyball action, the Sequim Wolves dominated their match up at Olympic sweeping the Trojans 25-16 25-20 and 25-12. Kendall Hastings, Jolene Vaara and Arianna Stovall dominated the net. In the back court Sydney Clark and her side kick Mia Coudriet had more digs than a Hurricane Ridge Marmot. Wolves Senior Jordan Kidd said she is proud of Mia Coudriet: “Mia went straight to Varsity from C squad and that’s hard to do, but she keeps improving and is playing great”.

In soccer, the Roughriders had no problem with North Mason in a 7-0 win. The Athletic Piper Williams had two goals, Anna Petty had two goals, Page Mason, Cayleigh Alward and Kedryn DeScalla each had a goal.

In NWAC soccer action the #1 ranked Peninsula Pirate men loss 2-0 at 3rd ranked Whatcom.

High school football action tonight the 1-5 Roughriders travel to Bainbridge to take on a 2-4 Spartan team that is much better than their record. The Spartans have loss 3 games by a total of 8 points including a 16-13 loss to an undefeated Olympic Trojan team. Kickoff is at 6:30 pm.

The Sequim Wolves have turned their season around and if they win 2 of their last 3 games, they could qualify for the #3 playoff spot. Tonight, they take on a winless North Mason squad.
