PORT ANGELES – The annual ceremony to mark 9/11 will be happening again this Sunday at the 9/11 Memorial Waterfront Park in downtown Port Angeles.
First to arrive will be a group from the AmeriCorps team who work in Port Angeles schools. They’ll continue their tradition of hosting a candlelight vigil from 9:11am through 9:11pm.
At noon, the annual ceremony hosted by the Public Safety Tribute Citizens Committee will present a program of music, honor guards and speakers.
The program will be attended by the American Legion Riders, Rick McKensie will play bagpipes, the Grand Olympics Chorus will perform, and the Honor Guard will feature a combined showing from the Sheriff’s Office, Sequim PD and the Port Angeles PD.
Speakers will include a Chaplain from the Sheriff’s Office, PAPD Police Chief Brian Smith, PA Asst. Fire Chief Derrell Sharp, Sheriff Bill Benedict, and PA Coast Guard Air Station Commander Brent Schmadeke.
