SEATTLE (AP) — Republican activists in Washington state are organizing surveillance of election ballot drop boxes, raising concerns about possible voter intimidation. The Seattle Times reports signs were posted near ballot boxes over the weekend in Seattle-area locations, with red letters warning the boxes are “Under Surveillance” with a scannable code that leads to the King County Republican Party website and a form encouraging people to submit “election incident” reports. While it’s legal for people to observe ballot boxes, King County Elections has notified the county prosecutor’s office “to check on the legality” of the effort. King County Republican Party Mathew Patrick Thomas said he’d review the party’s election integrity committee’s activities.
