EVERETT — The Peninsula Pirates’ epic 2022 basketball season ended in heartbreak Sunday night, losing on a three-point buzzer beater in OT 76-75 to the Lower Columbia College Red Devils in the NWAC women’s championship game. The Pirates lead for the almost the entire game, but missed free throws and costly turnovers kept LCC in the game. Millie Long led the way with 22 points and Hope Glasser hit for 20 points. The Pirates end the season at 25-4.

In fast pitch action, Sequim continues dominating Olympic league teams. Sequim blew out Central Kitsap 15-0. The Wolves are 6-1-1 on the season. The Port Angeles Roughriders fast pitch team had two big wins over the weekend in Bellevue. The Roughriders beat Ellensburg 19-8. Lily Halberg had three hits with two home runs and a triple, 8 RBIs and scored four runs. Cheyenne Zimmer got the win. The Roughriders then beat East Valley of Yakima 15-3. Natalie Robinson had three hits including a home run, triple, and a double. Robinson also scored three runs. Tegan Clark got the win.

In baseball action, Port Angeles knocked off Sehome 11-6. Beckett Jarnigan, Hunter Robinson and Michael Soule all had 2 hits. Cole Johnson led the way with three hits and six RBIs.

In golf action the Sequim Wolves tore it up on the greens. The Wolves beat North Mason 147-230. Ben Sweet shot a 33, Dominic Riccobene shot a 34, Pryce Glasser shot a 36, Zach Thompson shot a 44, Cole Smithson shot a 47 and Lars Wiker shot a 48.
