It was a great weekend for local high school basketball teams. Starting Friday night, the Sequim girls blew out the Klahowya Eagles at the Eagles raucous home gym on senior night. The Wolves wasted no time completely intimidating the Eagles with their full court press for the 64 – 47 win. Soph Jolene Vaara proving to be one of the top Sophomores in the Class AA ranks scored seventeen of her twenty-four points in the first half mostly getting lay ups off steals. Point guard Hannah Bates just gets better running the Wolf offense, scoring twelve points including a spectacular reverse lay in that should have been on ESPN’s top plays.

On Saturday, the Wolves blew out Kingston on the road for a sixty-three -47 Win. Jolene Vaara hit for thirty points, Hannah Wagner had twelve points and Lauryn Stephen’s came up big with eleven points.

Mike Poindexter’s Port Angeles Roughriders had a big home win over the North Kitsap Vikings 58-34. Eve Burke hit for thirty-three points, Bailee Larson added ten points and Anna Petty hit for eight. The Roughriders hit the road tomorrow night to Kingston.

Kasey Ulin’s Roughriders continued their winning ways with a 73-54 Win over the Bremerton Knights. Ulin knew he had a big size advantage and went to his two big men Wyatt Dunning and John Vaara. Dunning hit for twenty-eight points and Vaara was good for twenty-three. The Roughriders host Kingston tomorrow night at 7 pm.

The Sequim Wolves produced another at the wire win knocking off Kingston 53 – 51. Isaiah Moore led Sequim with thirteen points. The Wolves will head to Kingston tonight, tip off at 7 pm.
