Friday night “Cinderella” arrived at Port Angeles High School, as the Class 1-B 6th ranked Neah Bay Red Devils tried to pick on their class 2-A big sisters the Roughriders. At halftime, the slipper nearly fit as a very young but super-talented Red Devil team matched the Roughriders rebound for rebound bucket for bucket and floor burn for floor burn. The Red Devils lead by six in the first half, but Roughrider junior point guard Anna Petty had her best shooting game of the year giving the green and white a hard fought 29 – 27 lead at the half.  In the second half, coach Mike Poindexter made some X and O changes, and the Roughriders stretched their lead out to twenty points. But with the red hot outside shooting of sophomores Amber Swan and Ryana Moss, Neah Bay pulled to within ten points. Both Swan and Moss lead the Red Devils with fourteen points. Reliable senior Eve Burke lead the Roughriders with twenty-four points and Anna Petty hit for fifteen as the Roughriders held off the impressive Red Devils 65 – 51. The Roughriders are now 7-6 overall and 6-1 in league play. The Roughriders will travel to Bainbridge Tuesday night to take on the Spartans with the tip off at 7 pm.
