CLALLAM BAY – The Washington State Department of Transportation has updated us on the effort to get SR 112 opened up in two spots near Clallam Bay following December’s landslides and flooding.

Yesterday, they solicited bids to five emergency contractors to get some long-term repairs at milepost 16 landslide. They say they expect to receive bids tomorrow and, with a rapid award and execution process, start work next week.

Work is expected to take 4-8 weeks to complete. The temporary bypass route via Eagle Crest Way will remain open and maintained by a separate contractor until repairs to the Clallam Bay site are complete.

And at the Jim Creek site, WSDOT officials are awaiting final design recommendations from their engineering geologists, which will determine their final plans and proposal documents they’ll provide to contractors.

We’re told they expect to solicit bids on Friday, February 4, and with rapid award of that emergency contract, they anticipate work to begin the week of February 14.

Work at Jim Creek is expected to take 4-8 weeks to complete.
