vote-fraud

CLALLAM COUNTY – The Clallam County Auditor’s Office sent out an announcement Monday morning that says the Canvassing Board will hold a special meeting next week to address potential voter fraud in the 2018 General Election.

The Clallam County Canvassing Board is comprised of County Auditor Shoona Riggs, Prosecuting Attorney Mark Nichols, and Board of County Commissioners Chair Mark Ozias, all elected officials.

County Auditor Shoona Riggs says it’s nothing to be alarmed about.

“So, these three cases that we’re going to discuss with the County Canvassing Board were referred to us by the Secretary of State’s office. These are potential cases of double and cross voting through different states.”

We’ve reported on similar cases in the past, where it appears someone may have voted in two separate states. And certainly voter fraud issues are in the headlines almost daily, but most of us aren’t talking about the 2018 election.

“It takes a little while for the Secretary of State to get their stuff and put it back together to send it out to the counties. And we did receive this earlier last year, but due to Covid and everything else that’s going on, we’re getting to it now.”

Riggs says her office has contacted the 3 individuals who are suspected of doing something wrong to ask a few more questions.

“And then, I bring everything to the County Canvassing Board and, as a board, they will decide whether or not this gets referred to the Sheriff’s Office and the Prosecutor’s Office.”

The Canvassing Board special meeting is set for 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 12 at the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles, and is an open public meeting.
