SEQUIM – Sequim School Superintendent Dr. Jayne Pryne announced her resignation Wednesday. The news was sent to district staff and parents through the Skyward communication program.

In her message, Pryne said, “It has been my great honor to serve the district as the interim Superintendent.”

But she also said she feels it’s time for someone else to take over. Pryne went on to say the Board of Directors and Superintendent must work together as a cohesive team for the common purpose of providing the best possible education for students.

The district has been under fire recently with multiple issues surrounding harassment and retaliation allegations involving administration personnel. This month, the board is considering the censure of board member Jim Stoffer for allegedly violating board policy by disclosing  to a District employee who has two active complaints against the District, information shared confidentially with the Board of Directors. Stoffer’s attorney called those allegations a “witch hunt.”

Pryne says her decision to leave comes with a heavy heart and her last day will be the end of December.
