PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles police reported Wednesday that last Saturday they arrested a naked woman experiencing severe mental trauma after she broke into a restaurant and later barricaded herself in a stranger’s motel room.

It was about 4:40am Saturday when officers responded to a report of a burglary at the Chestnut Cottage restaurant near Front and Washington. Employees found her inside breaking glass and generally trashing the place, but she fled the scene before the cops arrived.

That’s when a guest at the Aircrest Motel across the street approached the officers and said he was outside on the balcony smoking a cigarette when a naked woman ran up the stairs and through his open door, shutting the door and locking him out. He said he could hear her damaging property inside.

The officers were able to access the room and, after a struggle, took 27-year-old Lytezia Rose Montes into custody. They say she required urgent medical care due to self-inflicted injuries and to counteract what was possibly a bad reaction to drugs.

She remains in jail on $1,000.00 bail.
