PORT ANGELES – The mayor of Port Angeles is now facing a challenger for her seat on the city council.

Yesterday, Jon Bruce filed to run against Kate Dexter. Dexter had filed for re-election on Monday.

In Sequim, Lowell Rathbun filed to run for the city council position currently held by Keith Larkin.

Virginia Shepard joined the field of candidates running for a position on the Sequim School Board currently held by Brandino Gibson.

Steve Blackham filed for a spot on the Olympic Medical Center Board. It sets up a contested race against Heather Jeffers who filed for the position earlier this week.

Also filing yesterday were Duane Chamlee and Sean Ryan for a position on the Fire District Three Commission. That sets up the area’s first primary, as Jeff Nicholas also filed for the spot earlier this week, brining three candidates in that race.

Filing continues through the end of the week for more than 40 local races on this fall’s election in Clallam County.
