PORT ANGELES – Progress on the Bagley Creek fish passage project along Highway 101 east of Port Angeles is about to become very visible.

This coming Tuesday, November 10, contractor crews will be placing enormous bridge girders, and 15-minute traffic stoppages will be occurring for westbound travelers throughout the day.

The DOT plans to use cranes to lift several nearly 80-foot-long girders from the closed work zone between the hours of 7:am and 4:pm. Only westbound traffic will be briefly stopped. Eastbound lanes will remain open.

This work is part of WSDOT’s Fish Barrier Removal Program, which identifies and removes barriers to fish caused by culverts under state highways. Work has underway at both Bagley and Siebert Creeks since May and is expected to wrap up by fall of next year.
