West coast fire news

The Forest Service reported Monday that 27 large wildfires continue to burn over 1.5 million acres across Oregon and Washington. There are more than 9,000 fire personnel battling the fires.

Meanwhile, a utility company says a tree that made contact with a power line apparently started a wildfire that burned dozens of homes in Malden and Pine City in eastern Washington, including over 100 homes in Malden alone.

In California, five of the top seven largest wildfires in state history are currently active.

At 165 square miles, the Bobcat Fire is one of the largest ever in LA County. It’s just 15% contained.

Evacuation orders and warnings are in place for thousands of residents in foothill and desert communities.
