PORT ANGELES – Investigators from the Port Angeles Fire Department are labeling a travel trailer fire Thursday morning as arson.
Police and firefighters responded to a report of a burning trailer, in the parking lot next to the fairgrounds and the Lincoln Park BMX track, at about 8:15 am.
Officers report the trailer was unoccupied, but it is not clear if it was abandoned. The fire was quickly doused but damage was reported inside and out.
Police now say if they can’t locate the owner the trailer will be placed into the junk vehicle abatement program, a partnership between Code Enforcement Officers, local towing companies and Clallam County. Several hundred junk vehicles are removed and often demolished every year within city limits.
The case remains under investigation.
