SEQUIM — Sequim City Council member Troy Tenneson notified the City Friday that he was resigning from his City Council position effective immediately because of a family emergency.

Tenneson was elected to the City Council in 2019 and has served since January 1 of this year and is a strong supporter of the Save Our Sequim group that is working to stop a proposed medication assisted treatment center from being built in Sequim.

The vacant City Council position will be filled by appointment of the City Council. Applicants must be registered voters of the City of Sequim and hold no other public office or employment under the city government, among other requirements.

Interviews for the vacant position will be conducted by the City Council at a regularly scheduled or a special meeting.

Further details concerning the position and the recruitment process will be released at a later date.
